Child safety standards
Effective date: Oct-01-2026 Version: 2026-10-01
Lovyza — Dating & Events (ke.co.lovyza.lovyza), published on Google Play by Lovyza, is an app for adults aged 18 and over. These are the standards we hold ourselves to on child safety, and what we do when they are broken.
Child sexual abuse and exploitation is prohibited
Lovyza prohibits child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) absolutely. There is no context, no part of the app, and no account for which it is permitted.
This includes, and is not limited to:
- Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) — any image, video, drawing or text that sexualises a person under 18, whether real, altered or generated.
- Sexualising a minor in a photo, a profile, a message, a voice note, a call, an event listing or any other field on Lovyza.
- Grooming, or any attempt to make contact with, solicit, meet or build a relationship with a minor for a sexual purpose.
- Sextortion, or threatening to publish intimate material of a minor.
- Trafficking a minor, advertising a minor, or arranging access to one.
- Asking another person for CSAM, offering it, linking to it, or describing where it can be found.
- Presenting as an adult to reach minors, or presenting as a minor.
Breaking this standard is not warned about, not given a second chance, and not weighed against anything else on the account. It ends the account.
Lovyza is for adults only
- An account cannot be created without a date of birth, and an account whose date of birth is under 18 is refused at registration. The date of birth is stored and the age is computed from it; it is not a tick box.
- A person who tells us they are under 18, or whom we have reason to believe is under 18, has their account removed. We do not ask them to come back when they are older, and we do not keep the account pending.
- Every photo is checked before it is shown to anybody, against fingerprints of images already on Lovyza. A photo that matches one is held for a person to review, and is visible to nobody until they do.
Reporting, in the app and to us
Every surface in Lovyza can be reported from the screen it is on — a profile, a photo, a message, a voice note, an event, or a call, without needing to match, reply or continue a conversation first. Blocking the person is ticked by default when you report them, and takes effect in both directions immediately.
Reports reach a named member of staff, and every decision taken on one is recorded against that person's name and cannot be edited afterwards.
If you cannot report something in the app, or you are reporting on behalf of a child, write to us:
Child safety point of contact: safety@lovyza.co.ke
Tell us what you saw and where. You do not need an account to write to us, and you do not need to send us the material — please do not. Describing it is enough and is safer for you.
What we do about CSAM and CSAE
When we find CSAE on Lovyza, or it is reported to us:
- We remove the content and end the account. The account is banned, not suspended. Its phone number cannot be used to open a new account for at least 12 months.
- We preserve the evidence. Account records, the material, and the surrounding activity are preserved for law enforcement rather than deleted, even where the account would otherwise have been erased. This is the one case in which a deletion request does not remove everything — the law requires us to be able to hand it over.
- We report it to the authorities. Reports go to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations in Kenya, and to the relevant authority in the country concerned where the account or material sits outside Kenya.
- We act on the first credible report. We do not wait for a second, and we do not require the reporter to prove anything.
We do not operate an automated CSAM or nudity classifier. Photos are checked against fingerprints of images already on Lovyza before they are shown, and a match is held for a person; everything else reaches us through reports, every one of which a person reviews. Reports concerning a minor are prioritised above all others. We would rather say this plainly than imply a detection capability we do not have.
The law we are complying with
Lovyza operates from Kenya and complies with Kenyan law on child protection, including:
- the Children Act 2022
- the Sexual Offences Act 2006
- the Computer Misuse and Cybercrimes Act 2018, including the offences concerning child pornography
- the Data Protection Act 2019, in how we handle and preserve the records described above
Where a user, an account or material falls under another country's jurisdiction, we comply with the applicable child safety law there as well.
Keeping these standards current
These standards are published at https://lovyza.co.ke/legal/child-safety and are reviewed when the law changes, when Google Play's requirements change, and at least once a year. The effective date and version above change whenever the text does.
