Community guidelines

Effective date: Oct-01-2026 Version: 2026-10-01

Lovyza — Dating & Events is for adults who want to meet people and go to real things together. These guidelines are what that takes. They form part of our Terms of service: breaking them can cost you your account, and section 4 of the Terms is the short version of this page.

They come down to one idea. Treat people the way you would want to be treated by a stranger you were about to meet.

Be who you say you are

Children are never allowed, and never sexualised

Anyone under 18 is not allowed on Lovyza, and helping someone under 18 to use it is not allowed either.

Child sexual abuse and exploitation is prohibited absolutely. That covers any material that sexualises a minor, grooming, sextortion, and any attempt to contact, meet or arrange access to a minor. It is not warned about: it ends the account, the evidence is preserved, and it is reported to the authorities. Our Child safety standards set out the full standard and what we do.

If you think someone on Lovyza is under 18, report the profile, or email safety@lovyza.co.ke.

Respect people

Keep what you post appropriate

Profiles, photos, prompts, messages, event listings and anything else you add must not include:

No money, no selling

Lovyza is for meeting people, not for business.

Lovyza will never ask you for your sign-in code, and nobody else should either. If anyone asks you for money or for a code, report them.

Circle

Circle is opt-in, and the same rules apply there as everywhere else, with two more:

Events

Play fair with the service

Meeting in person

Most people you meet will be exactly who they say they are. Some will not, and no app can remove that risk entirely, so please:

If you are in danger, call the Kenya Police on 999 or 112. The national gender-based violence helpline is 1195, free and open 24 hours. If a crime has happened, report it to the police and tell us too, so we can act on the account and keep what we hold.

Reporting

You can report a profile, a photo, a message, an event or a call from the screen it is on — you do not have to match or reply first. Blocking the person is ticked by default when you report them, and takes effect in both directions straight away — untick it if you would rather not.

A person on our team reviews every report, and reports about a minor, about threats or violence, or about nudity are looked at first. You are told the outcome of a report you make. We would rather receive a hundred reports that turn out to be nothing than miss the one that was not.

If you cannot report in the app, email safety@lovyza.co.ke.

What happens if you break these guidelines

Depending on how serious it is, we may remove the content, warn you, restrict a feature, suspend your account, or ban it permanently. Anything involving a minor, threats of violence, or a credible risk to someone's safety goes straight to a permanent ban, without a warning.

A banned account's phone number cannot be used to open a new account for at least 12 months.

If you think we got a decision wrong, reply to the notice or email support@lovyza.co.ke, and a person will look at it again. We cannot promise to change a decision, but we will always look.

Changes

We update these guidelines when the service or the law changes. The effective date and version at the top change whenever the text does.
